USMAN MEMORIAL

Usman Memorial has been built in the memory of Brigadier Mohammad Usman, Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous) and others brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice and paved the way for India's victory during Indo-Pak War of 1947-48. The marble bust of Brigadier Usman has been built at the exact same spot where ‘Naushera ka Sher’ as he was affectionately known, attained martyrdom. His marble bust was unveiled by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari in 2009.

A huge black rock to the right of the bust further adds to its surreal ambience. On either side of the pathway leading to the statue from the entrance, two majestic Vijayanta tanks have been prominently placed, adding a sense of grandeur and historical significance to the surroundings.

The Usman Memorial has recently been revitalized by Army through creation of a Community Learning Centre, a dedicated museum and facelifted memorial premises. These upgrades are designed to honour legacy of fallen soldiers, enrich the visitor experience and promote community engagement and learning.
